Types of Therapy Offered

Counselling

When our minds become full of thoughts that are too difficult or painful to handle, everything in life is affected: health, relationships, work and even our self-care. This is when a good counsellor will empower you to reconnect with your inner resources and gain insight into our issues.

Supervision

The supervisor’s goal is “to do whatever seems most likely to send the other person away more aware, more informed, skilled and encouraged than he/she was when they came in.” (Houston 1990, p12).

Supervision is available for experienced counsellors and students. Using a flexible model of supervision, the aim is to provide the supervisee with insight into their client caseload. This is achieved by making sure that appropriate boundaries are in place, that their work is conducted ethically and that they are gaining the most from their own therapeutic knowledge.

It is important that you choose a supervisor with care, they should be experienced and qualified to supervise. They should be a good match for your needs and you should feel supported. To ensure that you feel I am an appropriate supervisor for you and your practice I suggest you contact me and arrange a free 30 min session before making up your mind.

Eye Movement Therapy

I have found that simply talking about issues will rarely remove the problem. By using eye movement I can often bring about dramatic change. The eyes are a connection to the deeper feeling parts of the brain and so modern psychotherapy uses techniques such as Brainspotting and Integral Eye Movement Therapy. These astounding methods can help with the following :

  • Panic attacks
  • Complicated grief
  • Dissociative disorders
  • Performance anxiety
  • Addictions
  • Body dysmorphic disorders
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Personality disorder
  • Disturbing memories
  • Phobias
  • Pain disorders
  • Stress reduction
  • Sexual and/or Physical abuse
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Grief and losss
  • Identity issues
  • Blocks to sports performance

Issues I work with

Depression and anxiety can be relieved through therapy.

Depression & Anxiety

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at any point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, I am able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and reclaim the joy that you once had in your life.

Trauma & PTSD

Many individuals experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger aftert traumatic events. I can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.

Relationship and Marriage Counselling

Relationships

Relationship counselling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with both couples and provides a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship.

Identity in Counselling is very important. I can help you find yourself.

Identity Issues

Sometimes the problems life can present are so painful that we lose our sense of self, and disconnect with who we are. I have a great deal of experience with this issue and use a range of therapies to correct this.

Personality disorders are usually made up of multiple issues.

Personally Disorder

Personality disorders affect how we think, feel and relate to others and can be caused by trauma, abuse neglect and insecure attachment.
